Luke wrote in Acts 14:19, "having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul." I wasn't reading that part at first, but my eyes glanced at it and that's what I read. At first it sounds like Paul was trying to convince the crowds to stone him. Interesting. The beginning of the verse says, "Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds...". So it was not Paul convincing them to stone him.
Taking this verse out of context, one may come to the conclusion that Paul was a mad man. Imagine was other dangers and inaccuracies could arise from reading the Bible selectively and its parts out their contexts.
Be on your guard.
