With Barack Obama having clinched the nomination of the Democratic Party, it is worth considering the issues. I've heard friends (here in Canada) say that it's pointless to consider what's going on in the US since we're Canadians. Well, too often I've heard people stick their noses to the breeze and criticize the US for what it's doing. It's good to know where the US could have been if they'd elected another leader.

 

Another good reason to keep up to date with the happening in US policy making is that it is the world's only super power right now. Every nation in the developed and developing world is watching what goes on there and decides whether it will follow suit, or whether it will do the opposite; Canada certainly does.

 

You may find this article released this morning helpful. I'm not sure how accurate it is. For example, there's been a lot of discussion on where Mr. Obama stands on the issue of relations with Cuba, while the article states it very straightforwardly without stating any of his apparent nuances. To the credit of the article, it does show where some of their positions have changed over the years (e.g., McCain on Taxes, or Obama on Trade).
